Act on Your Dream: It’s Not Over Yet
As we step into the final stretch of the year, it’s easy to look back at January with mixed emotions. Many people started the year excited, hopeful, full of dreams and goals… only to reach the end of the year and feel like those dreams slipped through their fingers. The pressure of unmet expectations can make anyone feel discouraged.
But I’m here to remind you: it’s not over until it’s over.
Your dream is still valid. Your dream still matters. And your dream can still happen.
My name is Lovelyn Bassey, and I want to help you shift your mindset from feeling defeated to feeling empowered because your dream can happen still in this year or the new year.
Dreams Don’t Expire; They Evolve
Sometimes dreams feel like “carryovers” just like a university module you didn’t quite pass and need to repeat. And while ideally, we all want to hit our dreams within the exact timeline we set, life doesn’t always unfold that neatly.
But missing your timeline does not mean missing your destiny.
Your dreams give you direction, but your actions bring them to life. Even if the year didn’t turn out the way you planned, the story isn’t finished. There is still time to act, time to shift, and time to progress.
Stay Disciplined. Stay Motivated.
If you wrote your dream small and tucked it away, it’s time to enlarge it.
Write it boldly. Stick it on your wall. Let it confront you. Let it inspire you.
At the bottom, write:
“Stay motivated.”
Because your dream still wants you.
Your dream is still calling your name.
Consistency Beats Intensity
At the beginning of the year, many people attack their goals with intense energy, full speed, full force, nonstop. But intensity burns out quickly. Even world-class athletes collapse after a 100-meter sprint.
Intensity is powerful, but it’s short-lived.
Consistency, however, carries you across the finish line.
Consistency builds results. Consistency sustains progress. At certain stages, yes, intensity is necessary but the true magic is in showing up steadily.
So, if you slowed down this year, don’t beat yourself up. Just get consistent again.
Re-Strategize Without Losing Focus
Some people confuse consistency with stubbornness. They cling to the same method even when it no longer works.
Let me tell you this:
You can remain consistent with your dream while changing your strategy.
The goal is to achieve the dream not to worship a particular method.
If your business needs social media marketing but you insist on word of mouth only, that dream might suffocate. The world is evolving; your strategy must evolve with it.
Take time to review:
- What worked?
- What didn’t?
- What needs to change?
- What needs more energy, structure, or attention?
There is still time this year to give your dream fresh momentum even if into the New Year.
Create a Weekly Schedule for Your Dream
Every dream needs a plan. And every plan needs structure.
Set a weekly schedule dedicated to your dream.
Break it down into achievable steps.
For example, if your dream is to buy a car:
- Spend the first week researching car models.
- Evaluate your finances weekly.
- Review expenses.
- Improve your banking profile if you want financing.
- If buying cash, calculate weekly or monthly saving goals.
Whatever your dream is—travel, a degree, a business idea, a house deposit—it becomes achievable when you break it down, track it, and commit to it consistently.
Planning is not optional.
Success loves structure.
Don’t Get Distracted by the Festive Noise
Yes, some shops are playing Christmas songs.
Yes, Christmas trees are out.
Yes, holiday planning is in the air.
But before you get swept up in holiday mode, remind yourself:
“My dream comes first.”
If you planned to travel this year and life happened, don’t give up.
Buy the ticket for next year now. That’s still progress.
Do something, anything, towards your dream before this year ends.
Let’s Chase That Dream Together
I’m giving you homework:
